Half-Handed Cloud’s third album for Asthmatic Kitty offers a new collection by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist John Ringhofer, whose earlier efforts, "Learning About Your Scale" (1999) and "We Haven’t Just Been Told, We Have Been Loved" (2002) stumped critics who tried to draw comparisons with other artists. The word "solo" may apply to his unpredictable multi-media performances, but no instrumental digression stands in the way of his mission – to jam as much humor, spirit and imagination into as brief a song package as possible. Features guitars, cellos, pianos, bassy/breathy church organs, woodwinds, brass, non-instrument sounds, an eight-person choir, and various percussion, recorded almost entirely in a roomy church sanctuary.
