"Reach Out" and "Olympus" are the first two singles from "A Beginner's Mind," a 14-song collaborative debut album by Sufjan Stevens and Angelo De Augustine inspired by popular films, released as a 7" Olympus Mechanical Owl Silver color vinyl.

DESCRIPTION

“Reach Out” and “Olympus” are singles from “A Beginner’s Mind,” Sufjan Stevens’ and Angelo De Augustine’s 14-song collaborative debut album (loosely) based on (mostly) popular films. Wim Wenders’ film “Wings of Desire” serves as building blocks for “Reach Out,” a song about human suffering and isolation, while Desmond Davis’ 1981 “Clash of the Titans” informs “Olympus.” In both cases the movies are only catalysts; the songs - which remain fully rooted in the melancholy folk idioms Stevens and De Augustine are known for - take liberty with their source material, allowing for bold tangents, often running wild with existential inquiry.

Pressed on Olympus Mechanical Owl Silver color 7" vinyl.
